At last it’s here–the first day of winter. At 5:03 p.m. it will officially begin. This is the winter solstice. Isn’t it wonderful how God planned the seasons, set the planets in motion, and made this one day of all the year, the shortest?
The temperature isn’t quite down to freezing this morning and, guess what? Drizzle in the forecast! Why am I not surprised?
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if, during this season, all the warring factions in this country and beyond could stop and listen, and hear the angels sing, “Peace on earth, good will to men.” Wouldn’t it be great if everyone practiced the Golden Rule? Wouldn’t it be marvelous if people protected each other’s reputations as if they were their own, and considered where someone else might be coming from? But then, I guess that would be Heaven.
Thanks to all of you who are buying and reading the Darcy and Flora cozy mysteries. I appreciate your spreading the good word that books make wonderful Christmas gifts and are cozy companions for winter. They can brighten the gloomiest day, even the shortest, darkest day of the whole year!
