Before the cold front moved in, we had warm temps and briskly blowing breezes. Leaves sailed through the air like small russet ships on a turbulent ocean. The sun shone and that was nice but all that huffing and puffing blew in more wintry weather.
The authors’ book signing at Night Bird Books in Fayetteville last week was an experience. It’s always interesting to see different people come and go and it’s encouraging to know that people still buy books–quite a lot of books. I think there were about as many life styles and interests represented in the book store as there were those who bought books, but everyone had one thing in common–a love of reading.
It’s actually time to start thinking of Christmas gifts. If you would like to get or receive the perfect gift, let me tell you a book is 1. non-fattening, 2. inexpensive, 3. doesn’t require exercise, 4. comes ready to use, 5. doesn’t contain inscrutable instructions of how to put it together, 6. with a little TLC, lasts forever. A Word of Warning: Books are habit forming. (Especially cozy mysteries)

Thank you, Helen.
