A Cozy Kind of Day

A Cozy Kind of Day

“Yes, she joined me for supper and then she went right back to the living room and that book,” he said, indicating my first cozy, The Cemetery Club.

“I finished it last night,” she told me. “I couldn’t put it down. I’ve got to have the other two books.”

This is all music to a writer’s ears and the reason we keep writing. No, wait a minute! I guess I would write whether anybody read or not because it’s just what I do: “an instinct within me that reaches and towers.” (What Is So Rare as a Day In June, James Russell Lowell)

Anyway, yesterday, which started as misty, moisty, soon turned into something more substantial: rainy and showery and a perfect day to become chummy with a cozy mystery.

By the way, here are the answers to the Trivia Contest: 1. Uvalda is the name of the Oklahoma town in which Emma James lived. 2. Darcy and Flora ate lunch at the Spaghetti Warehouse in Oklahoma City. 3. The quote on the wall behind Jackson Conner’s desk: “If the Lord brought you to it, he’ll take you through it.” 4. The name of Andrea Worth’s Ranch is The Inglenook. 5. Dilly’s is Levi’s most popular restaurant. 6. Darcy and Flora’s cat is Jethro. 7. The song Darcy listened to on her car radio as she went to see Amy was “I Warm My Heart Around a Memory.” 8. Jim Clendon is Grant Hendley’s deputy. 9. Old String was the hoarder of Ventris County. 10. The maiden name of Flora’s mother was Grace Wolfe.

Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another” – Romans 14:19.
