Beautiful Beginnings

Don’t you love new beginnings, fresh starts, mornings? Yesterday, I noticed the sky as the sun was coming up and couldn’t resist a picture. A new day, a fresh, clean white page in front of me. What a privilege!

Yesterday’s Sunday School lesson was on Joseph. Joseph was betrayed by his brothers, yet God worked that betrayal out as an actual blessing for Joseph and for his people. Instead of feeling bitter toward the ones who had sold him, Joseph forgave them. He forgave abundantly, extravagantly, and never said one word of retribution. He is the example of how our Lord forgives and loves us, or how the father forgave his prodigal son. Because of Joseph’s forgiveness and love, his family had a fresh, new start and hope. Hope is a wonderful thing.

Forgiveness, the opposite of bitterness, is an antidote to many negatives. Our Sunday school teacher brought out three points for a happy, successful new beginning: 1. Thank the Lord that He is still working in my life,  2. Forgive myself for messing up (we all do)  3. Forgive others.

That’s a formula for success and the doorway to beginning each new day with hope, peace of mind, and a zest for living!
