Yesterday was a day of pleasant conversations. It began with Linda, Richard, and I sitting around the table drinking tea and talking. We didn’t have a particular subject in mind, and since my brother and sister-in-law know me quite well, I didn’t worry about sticking with the topic or whether my grammar usage was correct. We talked about everything from politics to scary movies, reminisced about our parents, other times and whether the garden will continue to get enough rain. Our visit was refreshing and relaxing, a pleasant sort of morning.
And then, just before sundown, Peg called and asked if I’d like to come over for a cup of coffee. Yes, I would! We sat on her deck, sipping coffee and listening to her water fountain with its soothing sound of a small creek. Jammers, the cat, came around and wound his way through my ankles, signifying that he was glad I was there. The dogs, with their shiny brown eyes asked for a pat on the head. The wind blew through the tall trees, the flowers bloomed in a riot of color, and my friend and I talked about everything and nothing in particular. We simply visited.
The dictionary says that conversation is a sharing of thoughts and ideas. I agree. And conversation is best in a relaxed atmosphere, a simple visit with family and friends. It was good to begin and end my day with just talk.
