Thoughts on God’s World

Thoughts on God’s World

A cup of hot caramel drizzle coffee sits on my desk and my dog sits at my feet. The morning is quiet and dark. A few solar lights across the street and in my container garden are exclamation points of brightness, and I am reminded on this first day of November, of how blessed I am.

How am I blessed, you might ask. In all things, big and small. Each change of seasons, each new day, are evidence of the greatness of God and His setting the world and the continuum of nature with its beautiful rhythm and balance in place, and I am God’s child. I am blessed with so many things and I, sadly, often take them for granted. I live in a free country. I have good health, and my wonderful family is close by. I guess, when you get right down to it, I am blessed by love, by God’s love for me and the love of those I hold dear.

The past two days have been rainy, leaves have been busy putting on their bright colors, and yesterday the wind took quite a few of those leaves off the trees. Today, all is still and I wait to see what sort of day it will be.

My Minnesota brother, Tracy, sent a picture of wild turkeys that strolled across his yard a couple of days ago. They blend in so perfectly with their surroundings that they are hard to see, but that’s how God made them. It’s their protection. I have a special place in my heart for God’s creatures, birds and animals. These days,  they sometimes have difficulty surviving, but that would be man’s doing.

This morning, I read Psalm 104. If you haven’t read it, let me tell you that it is one of the most beautiful Psalms. It paints a vivid picture of God’s creation and His care for what He has made. I’ll leave you with verse 24 of Psalm 104.

” O Lord, how manifold are thy works! In wisdom thou hast made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.”
