My first thoughts this morning were of writing “finis” to a character’s life. Not to worry, it isn’t for real and I don’t actually have diabolical thoughts. You see, his untimely passing is supposed to look like an accident only it isn’t an accident although Grant Hendley, the sheriff of Ventris County, thinks it is but Darcy doesn’t because, well, because Darcy is by nature curious and harbors suspicious thoughts and she suspects that the real murderer is trying to set up someone and cast suspicion upon him when he isn’t really the culprit at all but is definitely a part of the fourth Darcy and Flora Cozy, Grave Heritage.
Writing is fun and it is an outlet. A few days ago, a small incident happened in real life that sort of put my nose out of joint and was totally frustrating. So, to relieve tension, I grabbed a pencil and a piece of paper and wrote, One old woman and one little dog lived together in a house of log. Outside the house, where no one could see, an owl sat in a tall oak tree.
Where did the story go after that? I had no idea but I felt so much better. Writing is a good way to vent frustration.
The weather is wet and cold this morning but, thankfully, we don’t have the ice that Oklahoma City is getting. My dear friend who lives there is dealing with broken trees and ice all over the place and all sorts of unpleasant wintry stuff. I hope things get warmer and better in that direction soon.
The little gourd snowman I painted a few years ago welcomes winter and can hardly wait for his gourd pals to join him.
Whatever the weather is for you this morning, I hope you have a blessed day, a day of worshiping the Lord. Remember to have an armload of cozy mysteries at hand and if small annoyances find their way into your life, just grab a pencil and write! You’ll feel so much better.
